In the meeting with the minister and medical organizations, the current affairs of institutions and medical workers were discussed
December 6 The Director of the State Accreditation Service for Health Care Activities under the Ministry of Health (hereinafter referred to as the Accreditation Service) T. Žentelis and the Head of the Law and Activity Administration Department D. Giruckas participated in a meeting with the Minister of Health A. Dulkiis and representatives of organizations of medical institutions and doctors to discuss the most relevant health care issues and business issues. During the meeting, a lot of attention was paid to the issues of the supervision of medical institutions and the licensing of medical workers. The Minister of Health emphasized the need to strengthen the advisory function of health care institutions, thereby increasing assistance to doctors and institutions and ensuring quality services for patients. The minister emphasized that now many supervisory institutions operating in other areas have greatly strengthened their advisory function and primarily aim to help organizations and individuals, rather than punish them. In the field of health care, there is a lag, there is still a culture of warnings and fines, which increases tension and mistrust between all health care chains.
During the meeting, the minister introduced the new head of the Accreditation Service, Tadas Žentelis, to the organizations, who indicated that the main declared goal has not changed - to turn the Accreditation Service into a modern supervisory institution focused on consultations and assistance. "In order to achieve the set goals, it is necessary to review the administrative and human resources of the Service - today there is a lack of both. But this does not mean that changes cannot be made now. It can already be seen that planned activities and inspections can be adjusted by introducing consultations and methodological assistance, by allowing good practice guides, and by directing hard measures against those who maliciously ignore the rights of patients. I believe that such people are in the minority," said T. Žentelis.
The Director of the Accreditation Service is convinced that the transfer of good practices from foreign countries would be another tool that is not used, although other countries are much more advanced in the areas of supervision. The participants of the meeting agreed that it is necessary to strive for a closer social dialogue, in search of solutions to issues relevant to the state, society and business, therefore meetings of this format will be continued in the future.
