Patient data must be managed electronically. in the health system

The State Accreditation Service for Health Care Activities under the Ministry of Health Protection (hereinafter referred to as the Accreditation Service) reminds that health care institutions that have not yet signed an agreement with the Registry Center regarding the management of patient health information e. in the health system, should do so as soon as possible.
in 2021 An amendment to the Law on Health Care Institutions of the Republic of Lithuania adopted in December obliged health care institutions to use the State Electronic Health Services and Cooperation Infrastructure Information System (ESPBI IS), commonly called e. health system. We remind you that, in order to ensure high-quality and modern health care services for residents, the Ministry of Health has already since 2018. March 1 obliged medical institutions to manage patients' health data e. in the health system. Most of them did it on time, some connected gradually, but some institutions still do not use e-mail. health system, so the licenses of these institutions will have to be suspended.
Please note that the unified e. the use of the health system is a significant factor that ensures high-quality, modern health care services for patients: ESPBI IS's electronic health history records all information about the patient's health history, the patient and his doctor can see the data of the performed tests, medical images, diagnoses, prescribed prescriptions, referrals, X-rays , ordered and issued certificates, consultation registrations and other important information. ESPBI IS allows patients to view their health data, appoint a representative and act as representatives on behalf of other patients. Doctors, nurses, other healthcare professionals using ESPBI IS can see electronic health records, have quick access to the patient's detailed health information, issued by e. prescriptions, electronic registration, electronic medical certificates, also prescribes drugs and issues electronic prescriptions, so patients only need to show their identity document when purchasing drugs and medical equipment.
It should be noted that in order to provide and receive data from e. health systems and to use the Advance Patient Registration Information System (IPR IS), medical institutions must sign an agreement with ESPBI IS and IPR IS main manager - the Registry Center. For institutions that do not yet use e. health system and IPR IS, we recommend that you do not delay and contact the Registry Center at tel. 8 5 236 4577 or e-mail by post
It should be mentioned that the Accreditation Service, having discovered during inspections the facts that mandatory health data of patients are not processed electronically, establishes violations of the provision of health care services and applies control measures or sanctions to the institution.
